In a recent announcement, Apple revealed that over 600 new apps built specifically for the Apple Vision Pro will be available when the headset launches. These native apps join the million-plus existing 2D apps already compatible via the App Store, greatly expanding the Vision Pro’s software ecosystem. As Apple’s first spatial computing platform, Vision Pro introduces a three-dimensional interface that unlocks novel experiences across entertainment, productivity, education, and more. Developers worldwide have embraced this, creating hundreds of apps that take full advantage of Vision Pro’s unique capabilities.

Immersive entertainment and infinite workspace

Users will be able to enjoy sports and entertainment on a massive virtual screen with ultra-high resolution. Imagine watching an NBA game as if you had a personal IMAX theater, with real-time stats floating around you. On the productivity side, apps allow people to spread out multiple resizable screens in their field of view, essentially providing a boundless workspace for multitasking and collaboration. For instance, you could have a document, a web browser, and a video conference feed all open at once in front of you, like three giant monitors suspended in mid-air.

Immersive games and virtual exploration

Vision Pro also paves the way for immersive gaming experiences. New 3D games throw players into virtual worlds where they can interact via hand gestures or compatible controllers. We can expect to see titles ranging from relaxing puzzle games to fast-paced action adventures in mixed reality. Travelers and curious minds are not forgotten: some apps let you virtually explore new places or engage in interactive educational simulations in VR — for example, touring famous landmarks on the other side of the world from your living room, or diving inside the human body for a thrilling anatomy lesson.

Creativity, wellness, and AR shopping

Even creative and wellness experiences are being reimagined. Music creation apps allow artists to compose tunes in 3D space, arranging virtual instruments all around them within reach (and earshot). Meditation and mindfulness apps transport users to calming environments, providing a sense of peace far more immersive than a traditional screen could offer. Shopping gets a futuristic twist as well — for instance, apps can project a life-sized 3D model of a piece of furniture right into your living room before you buy it, so you can see exactly how it would look in your space.

All these new applications leverage Vision Pro’s unique features — like precise eye and hand tracking, the spacious canvas of augmented reality, and immersive audio — to deliver experiences not possible on traditional devices. With over 600 Vision Pro-native apps at launch (and surely more to come), Apple is demonstrating strong early support for its spatial computing platform, ensuring that users will have plenty to do with their $3,499 headset from day one.
