Apple code leak: Next-gen Vision Pro points to M5 chip
Code leak strongly points to an M5-powered next-gen Vision Pro. Apple hasn’t confirmed; strap/design changes still rumors. Most likely window remains late-2025/early-2026.

Follow-up to my earlier post: back in April I covered rumors of a Vision Pro 2 in production with an M5 chip. In the last few days, a new Apple code leak adds firmer evidence.
What’s new (and how confident I am)
- Strong technical signal: Apple code accidentally published references a next-gen Vision Pro with an M5 chip. MacRumors (Aaron Perris) surfaced it on Aug 13, 2025, and it’s been widely echoed (The Verge, Tom’s Guide, 9to5Mac, AppleInsider, UploadVR).
- Timing: coverage still points to a late-2025 → early-2026 window; some outlets note a possible slip into 2026.
- Design: no major redesign expected; a more comfortable head strap remains a rumor (not confirmed by the code).
What’s not confirmed
- No official Apple confirmation: these are code references, not a product announcement.
- Chip variants: Bloomberg notes Apple may be testing other configs, but the current leak points to M5.
Why M5 matters (plain English)
Jumping from M2 → M5 should bring: (1) more CPU/GPU headroom for dense MR scenes and multi-window workflows; (2) better efficiency for battery and thermals; (3) a larger Neural Engine for on-device AI.

Bottom line: versus my original post, the M5 angle is now backed by an explicit reference in Apple’s own code. Expect a near-identical design (strap tweak rumored) and a late-2025/early-2026 window.
